Sealwell’s 3-Layered Floor Coating Solution for Columbia Care

Overview:

Columbia Care, a cannabis growing company, was expanding its operations in Florida. They were looking to purchase a second-hand building and planning to transform it into a state-of-the-art growing facility. Even though they found a proper setting, the pre-installed flooring system failed to meet their business requirements. It is when they consulted Sealwell for a customized flooring solution.

Client’s Requirements:

Given the demanding conditions of cannabis cultivation, the client required a flooring solution that is highly durable, easy to maintain, and resistant to moisture and water exposure. Considering this our experts came up with a 3-layered floor coating tailored to the client’s unique needs. 

Solution

Our multi-layered flooring approach combines three different coatings: 

1. Polyurethane Cement Base Layer
2. Epoxy Middle Layer
3. Polyurethane Topcoat

Challenges:

Since it was a renovation project, our team had to work from scratch, which posed a significant challenge. Additionally, we faced several other hurdles, including:

We aimed to build a strong foundation that can withstand moisture, chemicals, and abrasions and create a seamless, impermeable barrier that prevents water infiltration.

1. Prepared the surface by grinding and fixing the issues, if any, to ensure strong adhesion.
2. Applied the polyurethane cement base to create a solid foundation.
3. Installed the epoxy middle layer to enhance durability and create a seamless surface.
4. Finished with a polyurethane topcoat for maximum water and chemical resistance.
5. Completed final inspections to ensure quality control and compliance with industry standards.
