As a technology-driven manufacturer operating in a highly controlled environment, LaserStar requires facilities that support both operational efficiency and strict cleanliness standards. When the company planned its move to a new location in Orlando, ensuring the facility had durable, easy-to-maintain flooring became a top priority.

Flooring Requirements & Pain Points

During the transition to their new facility, LaserStar Technologies needed flooring that would meet the demands of a high-tech manufacturing environment. Their key requirements included:

Challenges

One of the primary challenges identified during the project was preventing tire marks from equipment and carts used throughout the facility.

Manufacturing environments often involve regular movement of wheeled equipment, which can cause surface discoloration and wear on traditional concrete floors. Without a protective coating system, tire marks can quickly degrade the appearance of the floor and create additional cleaning challenges.

Proposed Solution

After evaluating the facility requirements and operational environment, the Sealwell team recommended a multi-layer epoxy and polyurethane flooring system.

The system included:

• Two coats of white epoxy to create a strong, seamless base layer
• Two coats of white polyurethane to provide enhanced durability, chemical resistance, and protection against tire marks

This combination offers both structural strength and surface protection, making it an ideal solution for industrial and manufacturing environments.

The white finish also helps enhance lighting within the facility, contributing to a brighter and more organized workspace.

Implementation Process

Sealwell followed a structured installation process to ensure optimal flooring performance and durability.

1. Surface Preparation
   The existing concrete slab was mechanically prepared to remove contaminants and ensure proper bonding of the coating system.
2. Crack and Surface Repair
   Any minor imperfections in the concrete surface were repaired to create a smooth foundation for the flooring system.
3. Epoxy Application
   Two coats of white epoxy were applied to form a strong, seamless base layer designed to withstand industrial use.
4. Polyurethane Topcoat Application
   Two coats of white polyurethane were installed over the epoxy base to enhance durability and provide resistance to tire marks, stains, and surface wear.
5. Final Inspection and Quality Check
   Sealwell conducted a final inspection to ensure the flooring met performance standards and provided a clean, professional finish.
